After being told by the dealer that my 2017 VW AllTrack needed a new transmission at 65K to the est. cost of $15,000, Wrenchwerks is working incrementally to see what the cause of the problem really is. To be fair, the dealer did offer to pony up some money in a goodwill effort to cover the repair but that still left me looking at $9000+. At that kind of money I'd rather put it towards a down payment but for sure not a VW. It might end up that I do need a new transmission but it is the "way" in which the problem is being approached. Wrenchwerks were quick to return my call and examine the repair records and then set up an appointment. VW took weeks to be proactive in telling me what was going on until prompted by a bad review sent to me from VW corp. I absolutely "love" my AllTrack and was looking to at least 100k of use till I could move to an EV and even considered the ID4 or Buzz despite the software issues being reported. But this just burned me on the VW brand... great product till you get hosed. Mahalo to Wrenchwerks and hoping to get a few more years our of my vehicle.
